It is really so simple. I use a saber saw and cut off all sides. I use a metal cutting blade and everything works out great. No splinters, no flying pieces, no damaged coins. Done this with many slabs.

Some of them have involved part of or the whole slab being shot out like a missile with results from barely missing the person to going through the garage window. Whatever method people try at least wear safety glasses |

There's obviously some risk, but it's more just that the hard plastic does chip and splinter in a lot of methods. You don't even have to breach the whole slab for a small chip to come off and take out an eye |

PCGS slabs, I can torque and crack open with my bare hands... for NGC and ANACS slabs, I run two sides through the band saw, and then shuck them like oysters.

The couple times I've done it I've done it at work.
I used a bench vise to hold it then cut the edges off one at a time with a rotozip, it's a small rotary cutting tool it's sort of like a mini router. Once you cout the edfe off all 4 sides the top just lifts off.Would probably have similar results with a hacksaw also but would take more effort and time.
Regardless of what you use, always remember to wear your PPE! (Personal protection equipment) gloves and safety glasses or even a face shield, anything.
They have always saved me from something possibly really bad happening to not being so bad and in some cases no injury at all.
