I don't think there is any need to apologize.
This date in history is beyond politics.

Don't apologize. We should mourn our fallen and remember why we fight the war on terror. The moment we forgot is the moment they win. What's most unfortunate is that a national tragedy that United the nation 18 years ago has become politicized. Without going down that rabbit hole, they even politicize it at my school. The old administration at my school would do a presentation schoolwide mourning with the families of students and staff who lost lives ones in that attack. The new administration refused to even allow a moment of silence.

"The moment they win" is when America backtracks on the things that make us the envy of the world. Just an alternative view, since the subject has been broached.

That day will always be fresh in our minds. Every year it hits home when I notice the date. It doesn't define us but it changed things in many ways. God Bless the good old USA!

Thinking of all Americans on this day and those of all nationalities including the 67 British nationals who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Thanks for posting. I still tune into The History Channel every year. Today was no different. This morning it was a day just like it was on 9-11-2001 where I live. Sunny and warm. I live not too far from the Flight 93 crash site. Flight 93 flew overhead our area about the time the first tower was struck. Those passengers were great & brave heroes fighting back. Never forget. Never again!

I have a World Trade Center PCGS 2001 silver eagle. One coin from my earlier collections that I will never sell.

Quote: Great photo too. True. I wish I had a dash c am in my car... I was taking my kid to Taekwondo after work. We were at the stop light near the Veterans Memorial in my town. A truck coming the opposite way turning left in front of us had a huge American flag flying from a pole in the bed (common sight in the South). The setting sun hit it from behind just right. That.. with the Veterans Memorial flags just to the right... Wow. My eyes teared up. We had the right of way (going straight), but the car in front of me yielded to the Truck. I am glad he did. What a sight. What a way to cap off the day.

I took this one at work on Veterans Day 2010. The backlit flag is similar to what I saw yesterday.
