Here are two coins that look so different. One bright and the other dull and the dates and MM's are quite different. Since we often see discussions on this issue I will keep them for future ref.

Both appear to be MMS-006, I think MMS-007 is the one to look for on 1962 D

Thanks Lawest. I guess I am more focused on the actual position of the MM. The shinier one has the D well above the tail of the 9, much different position than the dull one. Really didn't look a the type of MM but I suspect you are correct. Rich.

Mintmarks were still added to the die by hand during this era - their position can vary considerably. Your variations are quite normal.
