Gamble, indeed, the seller's pictures are blurry and inside of a 2x2, but I may have scored a good bargain here without much, if any, downside.

1833 Capped Bust Half Dollar, O-104 (R1)

My thoughts are original surfaces and VF25-VF30 or so.

Anyone want to take a shot based on these pictures before it shows up and I re-photograph it?

I think that the full clasp pushes it to vf30. Weak reverse strike.

Despite the weak reverse it looks like an easy VF30. The obverse looks 35.

This one paid off, I think. There are a few light hairlines in the left reverse field, and the obverse is a bit darker than the reverse. For $60 I think this ended up okay. Not sure if it will straight grade so it may just stay raw for awhile. Anyone want to revise their grade? I'm starting to think VF35 is not out of the question.

What are the marks at the rim at 5 and 7 o'clock both on obverse and reverse that are on your pics? Is this coin a 180 deg rotated reverse? They look somewhat like ex-jewelry marks.

The coin is resting an easel for the pics.

I agree it could make 35 but the reverse does appear cleaned. Still a good deal for $60.

Yup, it's on a plastic coin stand. No rim issues, lettering is bold and clear. Full grade 35 is double my money so I'm okay with the old cleaning :)

Cleaning may be market acceptable, though who knows.

I think it probably is -- a majority of CBH's were cleaned at some point or another. It has good appeal in hand, the hairlines are nearly invisible without the aid of the camera.

VF-25, perhaps 30.
