waffle-friend:  to the CCF! These coins are rather curious to my experience. First time in my life that I have even seen cancelled coins, if only in picture form. I have a question: Why would a coin be cancelled, rather than just melted down for recycling?  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @ Spence: thanks for the info. @WF, first welcome to CCF. Second, your English is fine. You have an interesting collection. Others have posted their waffle coins on CCF previously, but this is the largest accumulation that I recall seeing. If you use the search box in the top left hand corner of your computer screen with the key word WAFFLE, you can find other examples. Sorry, I cant find how to Your post. The coins are canceled so that they are not marketed, for example, by being stolen. |

to the CCF. You are the only person I know who collects these. Very interesting! As far as I know, Canada has never done this. The coins are destroyed instead. |
