Hello!

I think I have this error: http://varietyvista.com/06%20Mercur...kcqzXOJKqQTc

but....it doesn't have the die crack to help make me certain. If this doesn't line up, is it at least a true RPM and not just die cracks between the serifs?

I don't think you have it. I am not seeing the RPM.

I definitely am not a pro at this. What is that extra connections between the serifs? To me, it looks like an upside down S underneath

The RPM is a west from the lower serif area. Your coin doesn't have that RPM there. It is normal. The mark in the upper right quadrant is an issue with a damaged mintmark punch. That is not part of the RPM. Just the lower west area.
