The metal is just distributed differently. The only time there would be extra metal is if the die broke and the fragment was retained on the coin. This would make it magnetic: Richard S. I checked a few with the magnet no hits yet. Cool concept with the die breakage turning coins magnetic. Funny how some damage like a cud is good and other damage like Mechanical Doubling is bad. Steel having a strong attraction, would be able to hold the coin up of the piece was large enough. Richard S.
