Laverty is second from the right in the front row. He was navigator on this crew. Astin is second from left in back row. He was the armorer.

I found an obituary for a John W. Mays Jr. in a local PA paper with the names of his descendants, including one daughter who I don't seem to be able to find any info on. I intend to contact the paper next week and will keep everyone informed. BTW, this has become a bit of an obsession for me! I can't begin to express the tremendous admiration I hold for the men and women who served, and are now serving, to help protect us!

If the obit is for John W May who died in 2016 it is not the right man. That one was in the Navy.

The 307th BG has a members association that is still active. I recommend you contact them. https://www.307bg.net
