First off, the pics are terrible, but I was using my phone and that's all I could get with my lighting setup. I think this one has a real shot to be a new DDO! And best of all, another Denver coin! Any input is appreciated! Thank you!

Could be a new DDO. That's the second type found since the first 2018-D was reported, seems like something at the Denver mint makes doubled ears more likely to occur.

It reminds me of when 2016-D 10 WDDR-001 was first discovered. The doubling is in an unusual spot for a modern doubled die, it was at the upper fluting of the torch fairly far from the center. Then all of the sudden, two more 2016-D dimes with similar doubling in the same exact place were found. Unlikely place for doubling, yet it occurred multiple times. Something at the Denver mint differs from the Philly mint.

Thanks for responding Tanman. I'm really crossing my fingers on this one. If I can find more examples then I can confirm it.

Just found example #2 in my CRH hoard. It's a later die stage as it's more mushy and blends in better with the ear than my first one. I think I can call it a DDO now!

I'd say you found one! Plus, you have it in two die states.

CoinHunter27, incredible find! Definitely a real ear DDO! It's now time to get it listed! Please don't stay quiet about the new discovery. Send it to James Wiles or something.

Thanks for responding E&V! I will see about sending pictures in to James Wiles. As for the trade, I apologize but I will be holding on to both examples for now. I wish you the best of luck finding one! Again, sorry for any inconvenience. I appreciate your help. :D

Do I need to send the coin in for James Wiles to attribute my coin? Or can I use pics? I've never sent anything in before.

You would have to send it in to him, so he can see it in hand. Here's the attribution guidelines. http://www.varietyvista.com/Attribution Services.htm

The link doesn't want to work, so you'll have to visit the site manually and click on "Attribution Services" to the top right of your screen.
