Hello everyone,

Recently found this Blacksmith token that appears to be of BL-5 variety. It has a pronounced mark on the obverse (looks like the brockage from the reverse). Was wondering if it was indeed a BL-5 and if these type of errors are common.

Thanks.

Anyway to answer your question - possibly this may be a terminal Wood 5 obverse with a major fall-out occurrence. It does not appear to be a Struck Through Object error or post mint damage. NOTICE how weak the ENTIRE upper half of the obverse appears in your photo - commensurate IMO with a terminal die fall-out occurrence. VERY INTERESTING! John Lorenzo United States
