New member of my educational collection. Weight is 2.7 and yes it is unfortunately magnetic. My fabulous coin shop gave it to me free ( they know I pick up educational pieces to reference) As I looked closer I'm just stumped how they could have plated it without any weight difference. And ..how does plating effect die deterioration. ( looks like that on the date )

Not sure how they plated it perfectly, but they definitely did a great job! Nice education piece.

Plating on an Ike only ads about .2 grams, it would be hard to notice in a penny weight Wise as it would probably only add about .002 g

Rookie2018, that's why I call it an educational collection. Its more about something I can refer back too. This one is a good example for me..because looks like a duck, walks like a duck ..But is a fake. And it was free..but I would have paid a $1 or $2 to have this reminder to look more into things like this.

That is a very convincing plating job. Unfortunately for a crook, scales and magnets exist!

Like Gincoin43 said, the plating adds so little weight in most cases that it is negligible. Interesting piece. I would have picked it up, too.
