Out here on the west coast, the only LSC I search are the 15D,18D and 19D for the double ear (don't see many Phillys) However your coin looks normal to me, lets see what others say...good luck

I do see why you would search at the Denver Mint. Thanks I sure hope this goes well!

Oh and here's a follow-up on the ear. Looks normal to me but I do see something there.

Hey experts can I get some help on the die chip (and ear) on this coin? IMHO I think it might be a variety or Premium of some kind. But hey, your words are final!

Hey CH, I am not an expert, but I wanted to answer your question since it has gone unanswered so far. This kind of die chip is fairly common, and you'll probably find a lot more examples of other shield cents with similar chips in roughly the same area, so unfortunately nothing that would demand a premium. The doubling appears to me to be Machine Doubling, although maybe someone else will say otherwise. MD is characterized by shelf-like or smooshed doubling.

Thank you for your contribution Oijogja. I do know what MD is so thanks on the reminder as well. I long await an expert to help me with a cool die chip like this.

I'm no expert but let me chime in and say the die chip is fairly normal in this location of the shield for most years. Usually, it is contained to the edge of the shield but yours does seem to go onto the field a little so there might have been affected by clash here. This area of the shield over the P lines up with the back of the Lincoln's shoulder on the reverse die.

Thanks Petespockets55 for your contribution. Yes, I do agree that it could possibly be normal. However, I need an expert like Coop to confirm for me before tossing this coin. Nevertheless, thanks for posting.

hello CH, not an expert here but I have to agree with the others above. This is a normal cent worth face value, since the die chip on the shield is extremely common and you will find it on many many many of the LSC in that same area. As for the ear I am seeing only a small carbon spot that appears like something else. If you tilt the cent with less glare you should see this better. keep this die chip LSC as an example until you find the next one which shouldn't take long but it's safe to spend this one
