I guess that's pretty much it. Only a handful of coins to sell then that'll be all for me... 45 years of coin collecting.

Congrats on building and selling such as massive collection. Any advice for younger collectors on pros/cons/pitfalls, etc?

I see on the link to the MC FAQs page, that you can now get an extra 6 months as a master's club member. It says click here for more information, but that link seems broken.
I'm not sure on the details but it wouldn't matter if I had 5 years to spend enough to be a member.
I also noticed there is a silver, a gold and 3 platinum levels of membership. I call that 5 levels on nonsense. Just my opinion.

Its a one time deal. The email got regarding the extra time explained the extra 6 months was to co-coordinate with the December 31 year end so an annual membership is from Jan.1 to Dec.31. As you know membership ends on June 30. This change is permanent and a yearly membership remains 12 months, not 18 months.

So, Canadian_Coins, how do you think you did as a lifetime collector - then seller? I feel that I am kind of in the same boat as you, since my first collection from 1976 Olympics in Montreal a hobby collector, to the current years offerings of the Royal Canadian Mint. After all this time, it really isn't worth much to my heirs to put the burden on them to liquidate my collection. However, if I do like you, it should keep me busy for a few years of retirement as a hobby seller.

Anyway, my question to you is.... Was it worth it?

MoneyPenny, I didn't receive an email. I was referring to the RCM website.

This is from the RCM website and it says exactly the same thing my email said:

What is the Program Year?

Prior to July 1, 2018, a Program Year was the 365 day (or 366 day for a leap year) period from July 1 to June 30.

The Program Year that began on July 1, 2018 was extended by 6 months and runs from July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2019.

As of January 1, 2020, a Program Year is the 365 day (or 366 day for a leap year) period from January 1 to December 31.

The issue was also discussed in this thread a few months ago:

Commems, when I read your posts - yes. You have so much positive energy and I wish I could be like you but I've lost it. Unfortunately I can no longer find motivation in collecting coins because I got confused with all the different series. I lost my way.

Worth in terms of money? - no. I did buy gold coins and sold with good profit. Same for gimmicky NCLTs but overall I think I'm in the red.

In terms of experience and fun, absolutely worth it.

My outlook on NCLT is very pessimistic unfortunately so I would caution anyone getting into collecting at this point.

What the RCM is producing in terms of NCLT is nothing like I once cherished as a collector. I just wanted a better quality circulation coin, and perhaps a special silver dollar here and there.

I admit, I got caught up in the frenzy myself.

I have never bought new mint product, from any mint either directly or indirectly through dealers.

Mostly new mint product is a poor investment,
so,
my approach is to always consider the numismatic after market, looking for best value for money cherry pick opportunities.

@canadian_coins: Thank you for the kind words, they are very much appreciated. I'll do my best to stay positive enough for both of us!

I will definitely miss your beautiful images of your new coin acquisitions! Yours were/are among the very best here on CCF.

Hopefully, you'll stick around CCF and contribute when you can!

@commems: I'll stop by once in a while for sure. I do expect a couple more $15 coins for the 12-year lunar zodiac subscriptions that ends next year. Those 2 will be my last purchases so I'll make sure to publish the images.

By then I plan on having everything else sold off, and maybe enjoy my pre-retirement...
