I'm afraid I'm going to have a lot more questions than answers in the near future. I'm not sure what type of error there is on this 1983 D Quarter? Thank you for your help on my previous post!

it could have had another quarter sitting on it when it was soaked in some kind of acidic liquid. A cup with a soft drink may have spilled and the sat for a while on the coins. It's not an off center strike.

Does the reverse of the coin show any signs of damage from acidic contact?
