New on here so be gentle inherited some old coins and trying to find out what they are and if they are worth anything

4 sols, Louis XIV, 1692. Silver 798/1000. Mint: Paris (A), which means it is one of the more common of this type of coin and value in this pretty worn condition is at most 10 pounds. It is still a pretty cool coin, it is an overstrike of an older coin from the 1670s (all coins of this type are) and you can see vague traces of the older coin on the first photo.

Here it states the value as 4 sols 2 deniers, which is what it was worth in 1702, when it could be handed in for a new overstrike into 5 sols coins. This kind of state controlled inflation was used for most French coins at the time, as one way of increasing the value of the state finances.

Sorry I dont have scales or a tape measure handy, is is pretty small though, slightly smaller and lighter than penny

I was too slow on the draw. A few others nailed it. search eBay for France 1692 and you can see what the different ones have sold for.
