Found this amazing looking Woody crh-ing. This is one of the best looking woodies I've seen so far. I was wondering what your thoughts are in terms of the condition and grade. I could upload more images later when I get home. Also, is it even worth grading? Eye appeal?
Looks cleaned to me also. Woodies will retone in the same pattern because it's in the grain of the metal but for a 100+ year old coin there are spots that are way too bright compared to the rest of the coin and why I think it was cleaned.
Generally woodies express two different shades of toning and some shades between the two levels light brown to dark brown. It's the "golden"streaks I find concerning on this as if it was much darker toned cleaned up and then retoned.
For the cost of a cent. it's fine! You could send it pretty cheaply to anacs and see if they determine it "cleaned" or if it's market acceptable but in the end its not very valuable to begin with to really justify doing that except to satisfy your own curiosity.
