I'm going with EF as well. There is just a little too much wear on the obverse for me to call this an AU, and most certainly not enough wear for this to drop into the VF category.

Pretty sure this is a text book example of EF.

EF-40 IMO but NGC or PCGS would likely go VF-30-35 due to the number of hits and pretty strong rubs on the wheat heads. Far too much wear for AU IMO.

I like the deep brown color, it's a nice coin.

I was going to go XF 45 or AU 50 due to the detail, but thinking again, this is probably EF-40 with a strong strike.

IMO no, but it shouldn't get much better than MS-60.

Hi Rick. I seem to be seeing wear on the grains in the right ear shock and that would preempt a MS grade. If it is a strike issue, I would still expect the dings to keep it out of that grade range. What are your thoughts on the wear?

The 1909 series were all well struck and from sharp dies. When I grade one, I take that into consideration. An MS coin should be perfect in most all respects.

No, but this coin is not MS. The lowest a mint state coin can go is MS-60....lol.
