So I bought 2x50 count containers of wheat pennies at a flea market and found this 1918-S Lincoln Wheat. There are wear on the lettering and carbon spots. I'm relatively new to coin collecting and these were my first wheaties I bought. Looking for opinions on conditio and if I should send it for grading and authentication. I've seen pictures of other 1918 and not in this tone. Would appreciate the feedback.

It's around F/VF Details Cleaned. Worth ~$1 or less. Not worth grading.

Thank you. I was skeptic at how clean the coin was and now I know it was too good to be true.

@tlang, first welcome to CCF. Second, while this is a nice pick-up to be sure, even if it hadn't been cleaned, an 18-S cent in VF condition is only worth a few bucks. The value of a coin needs to be worth at least $50 to $100 to justify having it professionally graded.

definitely not worth paying for grading. But, a keeper for sure, build a collection around it and have fun finding more (and please don't clean them, it destroys value and originality).

Nice find, it is a keeper inspite of being polished.

Always interesting to find these early date wheats! My best find so far was a 1929 found in my pocket change.
