Coinfrog. I start with a shoe sized box with a completely black interior. I then use a single bulb in the ceiling fan. I place the coin in the bottom of the box and use the middle rear facing camera. It shows as two tear drops on the screen. Then zoom to 2.0 power (fingers on the screen and move them apart) The default settings show up from .5 to 10.0. I found 1.5 to 2.0 give me the best results. I don't let the light directly hit the coin and move the box to accommodate the lighting. My next project will be to build a brace for easier vertical photography....my hands aren't as steady as they used to be. With a brace, I can set the camera for a 2 second delay to eliminate the shakes.

Thanks pepactonius, but the camera deserves most of the credit.

I think lighting is usually the most important thing in coin photography.

Lighting is absolutely critical and can enhance or cover details.

I am looking at add on macro lens and possibly gimbles for my S10+. You can actually shot in raw format (in the "pro" mode) within the S10 series.

Next, I plan to buy a macro lens that attaches externally to the S10 and give it a run through.
