Agreed, it's just the Master doubling you're seeing. The year produced some very overly thick die markers.

All the dies looked like that this year. The master hub (top of the list) was swelling outwards and the devices where moving towards the rim area.

The following year they created a new master hub and the normal size was present again. (This hub wear took years to need to be replaced)

The date on the thread title is incorrect. 1968-S coin, title says 1986-S.
