I don't remember those coins but that's because I was in Antarctica before they were issued
And anyway I wasn't in the Australian part.

But I was at the US South Pole Station during the Antarctic summer (Nov 68-Feb 69).
And I went by the New Zealand Station near the US McMurdo Base.
The New Zealanders still were using sled dogs.

Finally I was on the Palmer Peninsular (Port Lockroy - UK station) in March about 7 years ago (tour).
Describe it as if there were no picture.
Picture it as if there were no description.

Sorry, hit the post button by mistake.
Meant to say my long service leave didn't sync with the times they wanted people. I'm envious of those who have been!

@Kanga, I wonder what currency they use there!

Wow, neat coins!

I have a few coins from British Antarctic Territory, and vaguely heard of a French Antarctic Territory issue. I didn't know that any other Antarctic areas issued coins, though in retrospect it makes sense.
I wonder if anyone has a complete list...
