1979 D LMC RPM. Please Help I.d.

That one is not a RPM. It is from a damaged punch used that year. You can see this on several denominations and a very large number of cents dies are affected by this issue.



When this happens on several dies, we know it is not a RPM, but mintmark punch damage. So no premium. There are RPM cents though that year but not on the lower serif:

The cents were the ones known. I gave a look at several coins and determined it was not just on the cents.

@ COOP- Thanks for the detailed explanation. I compared it to the photos of RPMs on Coppercoins, but could not match it exactly. Question: is it possible that CC has it wrong on their listing? They have split lower serif Ds as RPMs.

Well they are not RPMs. Only the ones listed on their site are RPMs. They are just a damaged punch issue that was used on perhaps hundreds of dies. Making them all common. No premium.
