My first thought is no but since it's circulated, you'd need a die expert to be sure.

If that was a proof, it's a very impaired proof now.

Hi,

That looks like a proof to me. A type II where
on the rev. there are three feathers left of the perch

My thought was a proof because of the eagle on the reverse

After comparing it to a Proof Franklin, I think you're right, and I'd have to say it's a Proof

All Franklins had the eagle on the reverse.

While this very well may be a proof, the eagle is not a diagnostic for Franklin proofs.

According to Breen, the high relief eagle (Type II) is only seen on proofs in 1957 and the low relief on business strikes.

in 1956, Type I on business strikes and 5% of proofs, Type II on 95% of proofs

in 1958, Type I on business strikes and Type II on proofs and 20% of business strikes.

But for 1957 if the eagle is in high relief and there are three feathers left of the perch, then it must be a proof.

I know all franklins have an eagle on the reverse but there is two different designs for it
