Is this some kind of doubling by his ear?

A closeup might be helpful but it appears to be just part of the normal design of the lobe with a small indent.

I agree with needing better close up, focused pics.
Form what I can see, I dont see any doubling on ear..

Check out this link of Doubled ears and see how they appear on the DDO's:

Note that on the affected area of the ear, it rises above the fields/design of the ear. Not incuse, raised above the normal design on that area. Incuse marks are either coin damage, or Machine Doubling. Don't forget to click to enlarge the image to see these ears easier.
