I think Steve was being ironic! Coins and their charms have ensnared us all. Don't fight it - revive in it.
Love it, especially as you are known for searching through 7500 20 cent coins to find an obscure variety that still eludes you.
It's not the having, its the getting and the thrill of the chase. You chase a 1966 Wavy 20 cent piece, I chase high grade George V florins and rare Crowns!

Never has a truer word been spoken! And for the record, it's 9540 coins as I type!

That is $1,908.00 worth of 20 cent pieces!
You could buy 3 Melbourne Florins and 3 1938 Crowns for that price!
And add a red poppy $2 and a Queens purple $2 to it for a bit of spice.

Nice, those are a sight for sore eyes!
Is that a silver bullion coin in the capsule to the left?

Time for a worthwhile bump.
I have just purchased 7 more Florins, all very early or at least George V. One of these coins was very expensive - more details when they arrive.

Here they are! We have the first 5 years 1910 to 1914 (Plain), 1928 and 1932!! Reverses - Grades 1932 and 1914 - Fine, 1928 near Fine, 1910,1911 = full VG, 1912 - near VG, 1913 barely good. 1928 cleaned and dipped, 1932 and 1911 possibly cleaned in the past, 1913 badly faded and likely cleaned too. Others look natural.

Lets have a look at that 1932! This is a nice coin, it looks genuine and the dealer has guaranteed it. It is clearly a full rich fine on the obverse and some sharp detail on scroll and the shield is quite clear. Usual flattening on the animals and there is a light lustre. Black inside rims suggests historic cleaning. It cost me $500NZD The 1914 is nothing to sneeze at either, a mid grade coin with some nice eye appeal. The obverse is pretty sharp for a "Fine" grade coin. Of the 7 new florins I have, this is the only upgrade, replacing a very worn one you have all seen. It was worth the $35 I paid for it.

My 1910 is a decent first year example as well. Pretty much exponentially expensive in every grade above VG, that is all I can afford after 1932, but for a VG coin, this is a good one. Nice, clear and honest. 1911 is pretty good too, bear in mind these coins spent 35 - 40 or even 55 years in circulation after all (Many disappeared after 1946 due to them being sterling and new coins of half silver that year). This is VG too, all the other coins cost me $38 each. 1912 is more worn and coins of this year and 1911 are pretty scarce so beggars can't be choosers, a gap filler basically. 1913 another gap filler and likely cleaned and bleached in the past (All the cleaning looks old on these coins). Basically I have never seen 1913 florins in the flesh so had to buy one. 1028, pretty much fine, but badly cleaned and dipped sadly in the past. This one is a decent buy at price ($35) but will likely be upgraded at some stage (All but the 1932 will likely be upgraded at some stage! ). The Florin collection is coming along now and I am only missing these dates 1914H, 1915, 1917, 1919, 1922, 1923, 1926, 1927Plain, 1931 and 1935 Plain along with 1939. The good thing about that, is most of these are common or only slightly scarce dates (But not 1914H and 1939 obviously). Having 1932, 1933 and the Melbourne Florin out of the way helps greatly!

Nice bunch of coins Princetane. The 1932 is a great addition. I think I should make a push and try to fill some of my Florin holes too. I still need 14 coins. Will have to save my pennies to fill some of them though.
