Hello All, I just started collecting bank notes a few days ago. Basically what I've been doing is exchancing about $200 worth of $1, $2, $5 and $10 bills from one bank and taking them to another bank (I have several banks within walking distance from home. Anyways Repeat the cycle a few times and that is how I've started hunting. So far I've found 2 star notes and a stamp as shown below. They are circulated condition but I'm happy anyways.    |

Well the above statement isn't exactly true. For my first collection I'm going to try to find Star notes on ebay for small $2 bills printed by year including red seals. Condition will probably still be circulated/ungraded though. |

For new collectors, I usually recommend picking up the Standard Catalog of United States Paper Money. A not-quite-current/used edition is easy to find for under $10 on Amazon...or just get the latest new one for $25. The previous editions won't give you the latest pricing (which is off anyway), but it will show you all the bills, signatures, series, Fr#, etc. to help you get into the hobby, decide what you like and might be interested in getting, and help you to know what notes are rarer and which are common. Star notes aren't my thing, but I'm sure @SteveinTampa can recommend some online resources for you there too. As he stated, be picky. It is usually cheaper to buy a slightly better note than it is to buy a second note later because you decide you want something nicer. |

No star notes today but I did find a note with 0's every other number with random numbers inbetween. Check it out  Probably nothing special but I like it. |

@BankNoteHunt, That's so far how I collect circulated note's, but I never find any $2 note with stamp cancelled yet. Look out for radar, bookend, repeater's in circulation. |
