Hi all,

Does any of you recognize this coin or token? I have searched the internet a lot but I am still clueless. It appears to be a goat but I am not sure, it looks kind of creepy to me.....

It weighs 1.37 grams

Thanks!

Obverse is described as a
'Pashcal Lamb**, with Fleuriated Cross with banner above, within circular dotted border'.
Reverse is described as
'Open Fleur de Lis Cross within quadrilobed square'.

** not a goat.

I am not an expert identifier on these, most probably French, but I don't how to identify the Mint or denomination.

Hope this helps.

It is a token, modeled after a 14th-15th century French gold coin (agnel d'or). There are many varieties, generally attributed to 15th-16th century (I guess there could be later ones too). I think yours is this one: https://www.cgbfr.com/rouyer-viii-j...16891,a.html

To see more, search for "agneau croix fleurdelisee jeton".

It's because of the skill (or lack of skill) of the diemaker. He has made a beast that looks like a cross between a sheep and a dachshund.
