Anybody see this?

On November 23, 2020 my attribution and publishing agreement with CONECA concluded, and CONECA has declined to renew it. Therefore, I have transferred control of the CONECA Master Listing of Die Varieties back to the club. Rest assured that Variety Vista is not going anywhere. However, in light of these events, the fast-approaching holiday season, and the seasonal slow-down of the USPS, I have decided to suspend my attribution services until at least after the first of the year. This is a good time for me to re-evaluate my involvement in numismatic research and give CONECA time to get their new attribution program up and running. Have a safe and happy Christmas celebration! I look forward to what 2021 will bring.

Curious to see what this will mean for VarietyVista and its files as well as CONECA.

Interesting read tanman. Like you, I am curious as to what this means for VV and Conneca. Maybe they will find someone who doesn't look at a really good coin and not have to hear, too minor to list.

CONECA sent out an email on this, as well. CONECA apparently also let the agreement end for all of its attributors, not just Dr. Wiles. It sure looks like CONECA ended the agreement without having anything in mind as a replacement.

I, for one, am disappointed. From the outside looking in, it reminds me of some of the precipitous things the ANA did a number of years ago. JMHO.

Wonder how the attribution process will be run from now on. Thanks for sharing the information Tanman. Hopefully it goes well and stays as good as it has been.

Full email sent to CONECA members, drive is to change th attribution system, you can read that many ways!

As of November 23, 2020 the non profit Error and Variety organization CONECA, reorganized how it administers its Master Numbering List of error and variety coins and is creating a new management system for cataloging and submitting coins for consideration.
New CONECA numbers will be issued through a CONECA Master List site currently being developed. The CONECA Master List and CONECA numbers will no longer be managed, attributed or issued through CONECA members and non-members can submit coins for Attributions and Examinations through our CONECA Forum home page in new sections created specifically to look at new submissions.
The Attribution fee is being rolled back to $4 per coin for CONECA Members and $6 per coin for non Members plus shipping costs. We encourage you to join CONECA and the exciting world of varieties and errors before your first submission and save while supporting us. The reduced Members fee quickly pays for your CONECA membership.
Attributors and Examiners that have been listed in prior issues of Errorscope or the CONECA website should not be sent coins or contacted directly. When a submitted coin has been looked at and confirmed through the appropriate Forum thread a CONECA Examiner or Attributor will be assigned and mailing instructions provided.
We look forward to helping you identify your varieties and errors as we take this exciting new step.
