This one also came in the mail today from another cherrypick. Pretty tough variety in MS and after getting it re-holdered with the variety it'll be PCGS POP 3/1. It's one of the few RPMs where the secondary mint mark is completely apart from the primary, but also has a nice little third mintmark (also to the west) visible. The reverse isn't the strongest doubled die in the series by any means, but it's an honest DDR and thus a double variety as well. 1942 S/S & S Lincoln Wheat cent doubled die - DDR-002, RPM-012 - FS-512 And for those who are curious at what the image was that I cherrypicked it from, here it is. This is a fully magnified version.

It just looked right! And it was a Buy It Now for $34 plus $4 shipping so not a cheap buy if I had been wrong.

Excellent pick, especially from that image. You'll probably "freak them out" at PCGS when you send it in. I couldn't find a Red example listed on their "Price Guide" page. All I could find there for an FS 512 was an MS64 Red brown, and at Heritage, Fu-gettabow-dit! https://www.PCGS.com/prices/detail/...tive/ms?pn=3

Excellent pick TB! This dredges up the memory of when I first started looking for varieties. There was a tiny little coin shop in the corner of an art supply store. The mom sold coins and the son sold the art supplies. I can remember picking a 42-S rpm#3,#4 and this #12 , all in unc. red . There were a few of the big 1960-D's in there as well. She must have purchased someone's variety collection and put them out as regular coins. It makes me shudder to think the things that I probably missed because I was only weeks into collecting varieties at that point. That great little shop is just a memory now as a high rise hotel sits there in its place.

Incredible pick! This is another one on my bucket list for cherrypicker's varieties. I love how separated the primary mint Mark is. Your coin is an exceptional example of this tough variety.

Thanks for the kind comments! Some days are just really good mail days and yesterday was one of those with some good cherrypicks arriving. This one was a real treat as it's a tough coin in great shape and honestly from the seller's image there was no way I was sure that it was a good pick.

Very well done. Ha, I had a better pic but my outcome was not so fruitful. Thought for sure I saw that hash mark between the S and the 9.
