PCGS - Incredible Superb Gem 1855 Type II Gold Dollar Likely Finest Known 1855 Gold Dollar. Type II. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC. This Superb Gem 1855 gold dollar borders on pristine. Frosty surfaces are fully lustrous and display warm golden-orange patina with blushes of even more vivid reddish-rose iridescence on both sides. Sharply struck overall with only a trace of faint clash marks (as made) in the fields around the central design elements.

Really nice coin, but the central reverse die damage is distracting to me. The clash marks are as well.
I guess i'll have to pass.

Mine is a full four points lower in grade, and also exhibits similar weakness/die damage on the central reverse, and clash marks as well. I bought it two years ago as an MS63 with CAC, but sent it back to PCGS for Reconsideration. It came back as MS63+. Since CAC ignores "+" grades, and the cert number remains unchanged with PCGS Reconsideration, CAC automatically reapplied their sticker for $3. PCGS pop is currently 9 in that grade.

Dang @Winesteven, why do you make me drool so much?

Do I have to add a gold page to my virtual 7070

@hfjacinto, thank you, but as noted, mine is four full points below the one at top (that has all of the drool over it, including mine), and my reverse has issues.

In all seriousness, I have both PCGS Registry Dansco 7070 sets (the one without gold, and the other with the required 10 gold coins) due to the fact that I put together years before my Dansco sets a 12 Coin Gold Type Set. I suggest you first continue on your main goal of the regular Dansco 7070 without gold, and once you finish, only then consider expanding it.

I've been watching daily the additions you've been making to your lovely set. Way to go!!
