Hey guys I appreciate any advice or information I can get. I found a 1985 dime that's thick. I mean the width is twice normal size and looks like it was struck really hard by a die, anyone know what it may be worth?
For the dime question, Jayf150, it's best to post in the appropriate section (US Moderns in this case) with photos that are cropped and oriented appropriately. This will let the experts see what you are asking about. It's difficult to give accurate info for coins otherwise.
As mentioned, you need to post pictures of your coin so that we can see what it is you are asking about. Full close up of both front and back of the coin and a shot of the edge. to the Forum.
That's called a fin from a tilted die strike. The actual fin was probably even taller after the strike. Flattened down some. Same year/mint coin, just the opposite side affected. Interesting.
