Ok this is my first time posting on here. I know a lol about this coin like its the last year it was made and it's not the 1909 get rich fast Indian head but I found it a while back and was really amazed at the condition and some flaws that look legit and makes the coin very attractive I think. The Lincoln head I found today and once again it jumped out at me cause the colorin the die or something seems to have been 2 tone or maybe it wasn't mixed up good &. Either way I just wanted to show them to you guys and get any opinions? Value? Thoughts or personal insight. Thanks for viewing and sharing. If anyone is interested in not attached to the coins for the right person with the right appreciation.

Can't beat finding an Indian head in change! It has some damage, so value is not much but still a great find. The scratches across the face and the edge ding is the damage I am talking about. The 1963 has some mottled toning, it is an attractive coin but nothing to add any value. Welcome to the forum!

I was thinking the edge might actually be a striking error? If you look it's off center and it just set in to good to be from a person or machine? I mean just observing I really don't know but by all means correct me and educate me cause I really do like this coin and am interested in it's history and it's appeal.

@me, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @lcu that picking up an IHC for face value is a fun find, even with that edge ding (not a mint error). As to why this coin was being given out in change, perhaps this coin was seeded by a numismatist hoping to spike someone's interest in the hobby.

No, that is definitely damage. Still a great circulation find.

Fantastic find. Go back to where you got it in case they have more of those.

The 09 IHC is a great find in circulation, the 63 not so much - just a common memorial. Values will vary - you can always look up 1909 Indian Head cent "Sold Items" on eBay to get a feel of what people are buying them for in like condition.

Thanks for the post. Agree on condition/value. If you already have a 1909 and other IHC duplicates, your might be able to sell it as a group ("Bundle" says Frankie on "American Pickers")! I have seen small lots of IHC go for more than I would have imagined - even without adding the dubious claim of "Unsearched" in the title! So, go forth and bundle!

Stay well,

Thanks to everyone for your interest and input. This was all I expected from this post. I have checked my pocket change for years and ado far the 09 IHC is my best find. While value is not great the find is wonderful. For circulation of a coin over 100 years old it's not in to bad shape (you can see just barely a lil but of liberty in the head band) and is the last year this coin was made so I feel value will be there at some point. It's just something I'm glad to own at the moment. Enjoy the pics and thanks you guys for the warm welcome!! Happy findings.
