Since 2003, the U.S. Mint has "waffle-cancelled" errors and other undesired coins on-site rather than shipping them to another facility to be melted. This lot has four blanks for Washington quarters that were crushed and cancelled together, fusing them. An intriguing "inside look" at a recently instituted Mint process.
