Found this 1988-D penny, with a couple of bubbles near the date and mint mark. Is this blistering due to rot? The entire coin seams to have bubbling going on. Any ideas or simply PMD.
The overall rough surface I'd from the plating of sins dust, that was not rinsed off pre plating. The raised areas are from split plating, that allows the zinc to allow oxygen to get to the zinc, causing a reaction of rising and rotting. Spendable coin.
