Hi All, new here. I got a 1952 D Wheat penny today. I googled it and just the proofs are going for like $650. This coin is in definitely circulated condition, but could probably be cleaned up nice with a little Tarnex or something. Is it worth anything?

First, Big different between a proof and business strike. If your dealing with with an average circulated 52D, not a lot of any value unless your dealing with a variety or error. Never clean a coin...... unless you want it to be worth face value. There are a few solvents such as acetone and xylene that are generally safe to use that won't alter the coin. Posting pictures also helps get more responses and solutions to any questions.

to CCF. As noted, NEVER clean a coin...just don't. Post photos here on CCF and we will help you. A common regular strike Wheat cent is worth 2¢-5¢ John1

This image was taken using a mag light app on the phone.I don't think there is anything terribly special about it, but if I need to look for something in particular, I can. Not sure how many of these I have seen in my entire life time.

With the single photo I'm seeing what appears to be a common, circulated '52 D. Would be interested in seeing natural color, high resolution photos, but it's probably pointless at this stage. Value? Maybe 2-4 cents.
