I have a $100 note from 1996 With a serial# of AB45836317X

From my understanding X in US currency just means the end of the serial, or last note of that line...

Issue comes is when I got to look up just the serial without the X
(AB45836317*) There are no notes under that serial?

Does that mean this is a one-of-a-kind?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

(I don't really know how to upload images or I would xD)

Welcome to CCF. The series 1996 $100 New York district went all the way up to the AB-Y block, so AB-X was not the end of the line. The 1996 $100 New York district star notes ended at serial number AB19200000*. I'm not sure what you mean by one-of-a-kind since serial numbers are not duplicated, all of them are. Condition is everything, please post a photo when you can.

Ok that makes sense, to be honest, I know very little about collectable currency and am more so just curious.

If it was uncirculated, I'd be tempted to keep it. It was printed in July 1999 and appears to have a center fold and handling marks. If you like it, keep it, but to me, it's a spender.

99.2 million in 31 runs were printed. It's pretty common and too high of a denomination to keep.
