Aside from being worn out, it looks normal to me.

The top one has seen time "in the wild", which has cause dth colour change. It might have been sitting out in the rain, or in a public fountain or swimming pool, or been stuck in a commercial washing machine for a while. It might even have been buried and dug up again. All of these things coul cause such discolouration.

It's also seen considerable wear on the high points, which to me lends credence to the "washing machine" hypothesis.

Agree. The first coin was exposed to a somewhat harsh environment for a time--accounting for the dull, harsh 'look' (no luster). I'm leaning toward a spell in a pool, pond, or fountain.

The one that looks more dull might be a cup holder coin.
