Obverse appears to have been ground down a bit--not heavily--but certainly obvious. Not an error, post strike damage.

Maybe by the same person who damaged his 1970 Lincoln.
The damage looks similar but not as severe.

Or sanded with a 320 then a 800 them polished. Something of that sort.
