Hi All,

Hoping someone on the forum can provide some info on this unknown coin. Have tried Google search with no luck. I don't see any year or other information that could help.

Welcome!

To me it looks like a relatively modern tourist souvenir, not a real coin. No writing, no date, no denomination. Looks like artificial toning, not old.

@help, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree that this looks to be a modern construction, but it might be fun to see on what coin design this is based. I'm thinking specifically about that odd staff in front of the bust on your first pic. I'm going to move this thread over to the ancients section of CCF so that folks there can weigh in.

The curly hair makes me think "Numidia" and there are some Numidian coins where the portrait is accompanied by the king's sceptre, though it doesn't look like a caduceus as seen here.

I believe it imitates a third century BC issue from Melita. The obverse depicts the Phoenician god Eshmun.

Ancient coins don't necessarily have to include writing, a date, or a denomination - though that this particular one is clearly a modern copy (and I wouldn't be surprised if it's plastic).
