Hello I have an 1879 Silver Dollar that I don't know whether it was just abused or if it's an error coin. please look at the pictures and give me your thoughts. there are "bumps" all over both sides. It looks like some of the lettering is on top of these bumps making me think its an error coin. I have little to no experience with coins.
Thank you for your input.

To the CCF

Not quite sure what caused it but you can be assured it didn't look like
that when the coin was struck so it has to be some sort of PMD.

Heat exposure and lots of wear. ?
That's my best guess.

Thank you for your input. I recently retired and starting to go through some of the coins and bills I collected as a kid. so I will probably be asking for more help.
Thank you!

This blistering comes from heat. This coin could've been in a fire, and then cleaned or wiped off.

Damaged coin, so melt value only, unfortunately.

To me it looks intentional. There are a lot of tool marks all over and around those raised dots.
