  I have about 400 here in Oregon. I have found about one in Vermont but about 19 in change in coos bay. It's old Asian tradition to dump the proof set into change if a child dyes so finding one in change is rare but not impossible. The first page in the book is all circulated and the ones after that are all from proof sets their are 784,614 of them minted. |

It's hard to tell from the images but are any of them the satin finish? Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.

They all weigh between 2.99-3.1 grams they are all satin finishes however most were purchased the first page in my trapper keeper binder were all found in change and are all circulated cents. The pages after that were purchased at .36 cents a piece and are all from 2009 proof sets and the 8 coin setts were purchased at 1.99 a piece there is roughly four hundred of them all together.

I definitely have found some 2017 P cents in change but I only keep the ones that I believe will pass for ms 60 due to high mintage. Here is a photo of one of the obverses of one of the cents I saved notice the water marks or chemical marks on this coin. I have less then a page of these coins but they are all about the same but I would pay a premium to obtain an MS70!

Just for thought a copper sorting Operation has been going on for years in Oregon by one guy it was in the paper when I lived in Vermont however nothing has been talked about in years back then copper prices were rising and people talked about illegal melting if worse came to worst but copper theft became a crisis and the sorting operation simply was not be talked about again.

If I was a know it all I would not have questions and I would have not bought so many 2014-s Proof cents back then as they minted far to many to ever retain what I paid for them. At first 2014-s cents were rare however mintages rose in the Red Book by 2016. I'm not to smart I just see deals act quickly and don't always get it right. I had some more control when west point pennies first came out highly unlikely they will be worth what people pay for them. I learned something here to be on the lookout for 2010 cents weighing 2.99-3.1 grams. Thanks! |

So do you yourself have a weighing operation looking for the 2010 (or later) coppers or did you just weigh all the 2009's you came across? I seem to remember lots of spots on the 2017 coins, so best of luck in your search for a perfect one. I got lucky in 2017 and came across a Dunbar box of 2017P in N. Fla while visiting relatives. I was really interested in finding an MS of the DDO-001 I found. (TRUST in my Avatar BTW.) Unfortunately, I could only stand to look through about $2 worth before my eyes gave me headaches from those "bright-and-shiny's". So I still have about $22 left. LOL Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.

Nice Petespocket55 that's Awesome do you plan to certify any of those Bright Bad Boys? I want to certify at least 50 coins from my small hoard. I think the 2010 were worth the effort even if they ony grade au55-ms60 roll hunting is alot of work trying to find first issues. I got a few 1931-S mint marks that I would love to know if they are real a couple 1983 double dies and a few large cents I want to do it cheaply you know were you do at least 50 coins and use the platinum membership benefits. Has anybody found anything new in rolls I failed to turn my coins in today and had to drive a friend to pick up his car instead. I'm hoping the bank will let me take four bags from coin star coins a box of nickels a box of quarters and hopefully they found me some big silver dollar rolls to search. Ive been antigue and pawn shopping and bought one lot sale for 63 dollars and got about $167 worth of silver coins Red Book value only $81.67 blue book value. I have been doing ebay a little but only won two auctions a certified vf20 corrosion detail for $25.00 and one 1954 proof cent for $2.87. Everything just goes sky high on ebay to hard to get any deals. I was max bidding on this one really nice 1827 large cent with full stars for $150 and in the last 15 seconds it went up to $828 insane who is bidding that high? The funny thing is I think it went hire then that because $828 was in red usually indicating that is not the final price. It had real bad corrosion I'm so glad I didn't buy it for $150.00 it would be so hard to resell that thing! |

The vf20 corrosion detail is a 1857 Flying Eagle cent for got to say what it was sorry. |

pm333, not planning on sending any in for certification but I've been told a full roll is the way to go to keep the cost under control.
