After a month of searching for rolls of halves, my bank had $100 worth for me today. As I started looking through them I realized that they were already searched. All modern era wrappers, all facing the same way, sorted by year. After 4 rolls with no 40% silver, no 90% silver, no foreign or weird finds I gave up. These were rejects from another searcher. Back to pennies.

Ouch!

I would be inclined to avoid that branch from now on because it is probably that person's dump bank.

I would not give up too easily. I bought 70$ worth today on my lunch and had zero silver. 5 months ago on my lunch on a whim I went to a bank and bought about 200$ worth and six rolls were solid 40%. It is very hit and miss. Just keep trying! You never know when you will find them.

You've found foreign in halves?

I searched an entire box of $500 in halves and was SO mad I found nothing but then I searched the last roll and found 2 90% and 6 40%

numismo....don't give up! It happens to all of us. Last group of halves I did was all 1971-76's except for 3 40%. It's part of roll hunting, taking the good with the bad.

What do you expect? Nobody actually uses them, so it's going to be streaky when somebody cashes their hoard in and you've just got to hope you hit it right. If you give up that just increases the odds for everybody else!
