This one is almost certainly fake too. I reported it to ebay as a suspected fake. He has others that raise red flags too. I recommend anyone see them, they report them. There is a link at the bottom of every auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/1892cc-morgan-dollar_W0QQitemZ110338704903QQihZ001QQcategoryZ39466QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Dayum! I checked his completed sales and I don't think there was a real Morgan out of dozens he has sold recently! http://search-completed.ebay.com/se...sop=1&fsoo=1The '9's and '2's look really 'off' on most of them. Not to mention the monotone look of every single one, except one that appears to have been whizzed.

Here's a link to the auction in question: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...rpp=25&fvi=1The seller's use of the English language suggests they are NOT native's of Ohio! The price was too good to be true and with no photo of the reverse, I can't imagine buying this coin. You need to notify the seller and ebay ASAP. I would verify all dimensions/weight and take a couple good pics as well. Sorry about your situation but it certainly looks like fraud to me.

IMO the use of fuzzy and small pics is intentional. The seller has auctions of other legit appearing items where the photos are much better.

The seller is putting a statement in their auctions that they bought a hoard of Morgan dollars and are auctioning them off. I contacted the seller and suggested that they make sure the person they bought from was legit and have the coins checked as well. Just a friendly heads up. I was extremely friendly and put them in the position of 'victim'. If they didn't know the coins were fake, they would respond openly and with interest. However, this is what I got as a response: Quote:i pay my ebay for selling anything that silver and gold+++you seem to be noisy, dont buy from me mr ebay feeder.thank for looking in my feedback acc....south slavers....i worked in floirda cheep talk and liers.thanks from all state

I made the mistake of dealing with this freak of nature as well. Got my money back and a $10 coupon from ebay to cover my shipping expenses. The only thing I feel cheated about is that ebay removed the listing so I couldn't leave feedback. This, in my opinion, is as wrong as allowing this seller continued access to ebay at all.

kurtS good eye, these date digits are like none I have ever seen before, I have a few hundred morgans and for one the date is much to large and also the date, like none other, every digit is just about touching the denticles, the arc of the digits at the bottom is very odd, IMO this is a very suspect coin, get a refund and call a cop, you have been robbed........

half-bust... I noticed in his feedback that someone had a similar experience. Apparently they couldn't leave FB on the bad transaction, so they bid and won an IHC auction for the sole purpose of leaving FB. I can only assume they didn't follow through with the IHC purchase. Edit: I had a similar experience in October with another seller. Rather than leaving the auction up, and letting me neg the seller to warn other folks. ebay removed the auction, like they have been doing a great deal lately, and this left me unable to leave feedback on that seller. I am starting to wonder if ebay is doing this to cover up a problem... ? Or are they trying to keep high dollar sellers feedback from going too low... ? Or is it just an oversight by ebay that they are depriving folks of leaving FB inadvertently? Whatcha think?

I have been in touch with the buyer of this 1903-O. It has been weighed and was of correct grams! However, if you look at the coin, it certainly appears to be a problem coin. Very suspect, especially looking at the date... Thoughts?

I basically know nothing about Morgans, so I studied a few at Heritage to learn something. Just a quick comparo between this coin and what I saw. For starters, what is up with that 3? Yeah--obviously a bad copy.

Quote: For starters, what is up with that 3? It looks almost as if someone made a counterfeit 1908 before realizing "Oops! There were no 1908 Morgan dollars! No problem, I'll make it a 1903 instead!"

I went through the same exact thought process.
