I found a 1988 D quarter in good condition. Upon closer inspection. I discovered the " In God We Trust" to have possible doubling. In my opinion it doesn't seem to be as a result of being smashed. But I'll let yall be the judge. I can't find anything about this year having much errors but you never know. This could be the first. It's at least worth asking around. Let me know what yall think.

@dev, first welcome to CCF. Second, my initial thought is that you have a really good example of Machine Doubling on IGWT. Let's see what the others think.

@spence. Thank you for the welcoming. Good observation. Now that you mention it, I would have to agree. The only thing that seems to eace me with questions is how the doubling doesn't seem to be going all in the same direction. One seems to be going north and others seem to be going east or north eas. The lettering seems to be different in size from others. I never really seen actual doubling with my own eyes, only online and in photos, so I don't have any examples by memory to compare. More than likely, I think I'll take your word for it though. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. In order to accurately tell what is going on with your Quarter, and other coins that you will post in the future, we will always need full clear pictures of the obverse and reverse of your coin in question. You really don't have to zoom in as much as you did on your one pic. This sometimes makes it harder to tell if there is doubling or not (or whatever your question may be) due to the blurriness and distortion of the pics. Just FYI. And once again...

I agree, this appears to be Machine Doubling. I also agree photos of the entire coin help us a lot.

to the CCF!

I agree with what Bumpkin said. I myself can't tell much with pic provided. The better the photo you post, the better we can help you.

I'm trying to post the other photos I had but it's hard to post the photos without going over the allowable data limit.

If you go to Wexler's Varieties site, you will see examples of worthless doubling such as Machine Doubling, and Abrasion Doubling as sub categories under "Doubled Dies"

Have you used the free image optimizer here on CCF?

John1 I did use the optimizer. That photo is what the result was from using it. I don't know why my photos are using so much data. I'll try to figure out a solution to my problem as soon as possible. I have a few machine doubled coins that I need confirmation on. I have plenty of photos of machine doubled coins I got online to compare with mine but I just want to confirm I'm not dismissing a possible DDO or DDR. At least until I have a better trained eye.
