I've been collecting coins from around the world for years and have just decided to begin to organize them so I can view & appreciate them more regularly. I've been reading various ways to store coins. I'd prefer to put them in binder in clear PVC-free pages so I can easily flip page to page seeing both front & back of coin. But, I'm not really interested in putting them in flips given the amount of time that would take me to do that for the hundreds of coins which I have in my collection. Perhaps, I just put the more valuable / rare coins in flips.

Anyway, I would welcome your suggestions for a newbie. Are there smaller pocket coin pages so I can eliminate use of flips? Is there another solution that would be easy for me to implement? Thank youso much for your help!

I think you can get coin album pages that are not specific to a particular coin. Maybe something like this?

I know what you are going through. I also have a large (well, large to me) lot of coins and I have been sorting through them, cleaning them with acetone, photographing them, and putting them in 2x2 flips. It certainly takes some effort. They probably aren't even valuable in the sense that I can get loads of money for them but I feel the extra effort is worth it.

to the Community!

I would not put them in the pocket without using a cardboard 2x2 flip. These help hold the coin securely in place. A coin will shift around or even fall out if you just put it in the pocket without the flip, even if the pocket seems to be the "right size" for the coin.

I know it might be time consuming, but try to think of it as extra time with your coins! Remember, you do not have to do it all in one day!

I've tried the loose thing in the past and it's a nightmare!

If you've collected for years a few months won't kill you. It doesn't take too long and gives you a place for a lot of info.

It's also a lot of fun and makes you take the time to individually look at the coins in your collection.

I too have a large amount of foreign coins. What I've done to avoid what your talking about is use those 3 ringed binder type pages with the 20 slots for 2x2's. Put the larger coin directly in those. If large enough, they will not move around. And if the pages are new, they are kind of tight. For the really small coins, get a pile of the dollar coin sized 2x2's. Place several of the really small coins in those. Make sure you flatten any staples used on the 2x2's. Also, there are plastic flips available with spaces for coins on two sides of those flips. If you use those and place them in the slots for the 2x2's in a 3 ringed binder you can turn the page and see coins on both sides of the sheets.
I have no idea of what many of the coins are nor where they are from so the order doesn't matter to me. People have been giving me foreign coins for many, many years now. When they first gave them to me they told me what they were but after a few hours I forget.
