Hoping the color is more brown as all of sellers copper coins had this look in his pics. Agree with sellers VG grade. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275032600282

I'd say VG-10, possibly straight. The light color might be just harsh lighting. Is this your specialty?

Large cents have been my main interest. Have had pretty good luck finding some overdates. Have made a few bucks selling these. This one was found because e-bay sent me an e-mail from saved sellers. When I took a look I found this one. Hoover time! :}

Hi Jerry,

Question, how can you tell from the picture that it's a 25/6? I don't see the 5 peaking below the top of the 6 nor the mark by the lowest right star. Just wondering how you can spot them?

Thanks!

The sixth star points slightly left of coronet tip on N-8. Only variety to do so for that year. On the reverse the leaf between last S in States and O in OF is mostly centered between them. On the date position the 2 and 6 are offset a bit to the right and are close together also.

@Jerry,

Thank you for the explanation. I see in Newcomb there is also an N8.5 and N 8.75 - are these the overdate coins? Does the N8 point you in the direction of the 26/5 but then you have to check OR is the N8 itself the over date?

Sorry to split hairs on you!

N-8 is the overdate I believe.
