@pla, I'm not really seeing any doubling in these pics. What exactly are you seeing with the coin in hand? Also, it might help to have nice overall pics of both sides of this coin. Thx.

Photos posted are quite soft, making it difficult to get a sense for what may be happening. Reflective/contrasty nature of the lighting isn't helping. Consider using a diffused light source, such as placing tracing paper between the light source and the subject being photographed.
