I'd guess VF detail but poor eye appeal. I wouldn't be interested in a coin like this unless the price was very low. The 1804 Half Cent is pretty common and it should be easy to find a more attractive example.

The appeal of this at $60 is beyond me, but if you're happy then that's all that matters.

as she sits VF details (ED) if you look from K9-K2 near the rim the field under that dark crud is showing multi-coloration of green/yellow/orange a strong indication that this coin was cleaned at some point. the coin may not have been rinsed properly or dry when it was stored resulting on the dark patches from the cleaning (just my speculation) looks like CR4 Stem variety. $60 isn't bad but as stated there are so many good examples I would have been inclined to take a lower grade with no issues this coin might clean up using VerdiCare and may be worth a shot

I lean slightly to VF but the environmental damage and lack of eye appeal trump anything else with this coin. There are no "yeah, buts" to save this one. I understand why the seller had to heavily discount it...

I think VF and this looks like a dug coin or possible fire/heat damage.

Thanks everyone for feedback. I just received the coin. The details are better than I expected, but the EV is worse. I'm returning it under "Didn't Like", because I didn't really want to pin it on the excellent seller.
