lately ive been seeing canada maple leaf silver and gold coins with nice colorful designs on them. I havent been able to find these at the canadian mint website so I dont think they make them. my understanding is that 3rd party companies are doing the art work and are selling them in numbered sets. does anyone have more info about these types of coins? are they genuine? examples can be seen on ebay and the coinshoppe.ca, and powercoin.it.

Once painted it may be difficult to identify the counterfeit example.....they are illegal if not done by the RCM
