1884 Indian Head That's A Bit Off Color.

This is an Indian head that was left by my dad. The color threw me off because it looks like tarnished silver on one side and silver on the other. Can someone explain and grade please.

Possibly it was silver plated at one time and the silver is wearing off.
If this is the case, it would be considered damage.

Could be silver, but my initial thought was mercury. Evidently that was a thing kids did in science class at one point in time.

Could it be a pocket piece? and the center was polished by the hand in their pocket. The metal content is 95% copper and 5% tin / zinc (doesn't that make it a 'bronze' coin..)
